Monthly Books Review: March

March was a whirlwind of stories and swoon-worthy romances! I managed to finish 13 books, which brings my Goodreads reading challenge to a solid 39 out of 40. Honestly, I might have to raise that goal to 70 at this rate! But out of those 13, two books stood out and earned more than 4 stars from me. Both, unsurprisingly, belong to my favourite genre — romance. So, let’s dive into my top two picks for the month!

1. Managed by Kristen Callihan

Genre: Romance, Contemporary
Rating: 4.2/5

Kristen Callihan’s Managed is the second book in the VIP series, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight! The story follows Sophie, a vibrant social media manager, and Gabriel, the brooding manager of a rock band. Their chemistry? Off the charts. I loved the witty banter, the slow-burn romance, and the depth of their emotional connection. Gabriel’s grumpy persona softening around Sophie was heartwarming and thoroughly entertaining.
What I also enjoyed was how the book explored mental health and the pressure of fame. Callihan seamlessly wove these themes into the narrative without making it feel heavy. It’s perfect for fans of contemporary romance with strong, layered characters. I’d recommend it if you’re in the mood for a charming yet emotional read. (And who isn’t, right?)

2. Best Kept Secret by Maya Alden

Genre: Romance
Rating: 4.5/5

This book caught me by surprise in the best way possible. Best Kept Secret is a heartwarming, emotionally layered romance with a hint of mystery. Maya Alden’s storytelling felt intimate and raw. The characters were so well-developed that I felt like I was living through their experiences. The tension and passion between the protagonists were palpable, and the revelations along the way kept me hooked.
I loved how the narrative delved into vulnerability, trust, and healing. I literally cried at one scene. If you enjoy romance novels with a good dose of emotional intensity and a plot that keeps you guessing, this one is a must-read! (Trigger Warning: Reference to past sexual abuse of a minor; on page suicidal ideation and attempt.)

That’s a wrap on my March reads! Do you have any recommendations for my ever-growing TBR pile? Let me know in the comments!
