Weekend in Mysore

Last weekend, me and my husband, again went to Mysore for our annual visit. At this point in life, it’s like a ritual that we have to visit Mysore at least once a year. The vibe there just hits different. Slow life, nature all over, and relaxing moments. It’s refreshing from this fast-paced city of Bangalore.

In this trip, we explored a few aesthetic cafés around Mysore. There is just something about a beautifully designed café, good coffee, and unhurried conversations that puts me in a good mood. Speaking of food, hotel breakfast buffets deserve a special mention. There is something oddly satisfying about leisurely breakfasts when you’re on vacation

The highlight of the trip, however, was undoubtedly the Bandipur Safari. There is a different kind of excitement that comes with driving through the forest, eyes constantly scanning the trees and grasslands, hoping to spot wildlife. We were lucky enough to see plenty of animals during the safari like deer, elephants, peacocks, monkeys, and many more.

The only one who chose not to show up? The tiger.

At this point, I am convinced that spotting a tiger is simply not written in my travel destiny. Three safaris till date, and I haven’t spotted it once. Just my luck!

By the end of the weekend, I planned to return home feeling rested, recharged, and grateful for the pause, but unfortunately, work just loomed over the head. Though between the cafés, breakfasts, peaceful surroundings, and the safari of Bandipur, I still loved every bit of the weekend. And while the tiger may have escaped my sight once again, I suppose that just means another safari trip is waiting somewhere in the future.
