Another Month, Another Book Haul

There’s a certain joy in walking into Blossom Book House and knowing that you’ll never walk out empty-handed. For me, it has become something of a ritual — browsing through shelves stacked with both new and second-hand books, running my fingers over cracked spines, and letting the smell of old pages work its magic. This month’s book haul is a mix of thrifted treasures, and honestly, I couldn’t be happier with the finds.

Let’s start with Devdutt Pattanaik. I didn’t pick up Business Sutra and Myth = Mithya, my husband did. I added Ramayana versus Mahabharata, which promises a playful comparison of two epics we’ve all grown up listening to. These books are not just reads; they’re conversations waiting to happen.

Then, of course, I couldn’t resist the comfort of romance. I have read many books by Judith McNaught, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, and Durjoy Datta before. But these four books that I picked from them would be a first read for me.

What makes this haul special is that all of these books are thrifted. That’s the beauty of shopping at Blossom Book House — you never know what gems you’ll stumble upon. For me, 80% of my library is thrifted, and that’s a badge I wear proudly. Thrifted books come with a certain character — a folded corner here, a note scribbled inside, a slightly yellowed page that’s been read before. It feels like being part of a bigger reading journey.

There’s a tactile charm in flipping through actual pages, stacking them on your shelf, and watching your collection grow over time. This month’s haul feels like a little mix of wisdom, romance, and contemporary storytelling — a balance I didn’t even plan, but I’m glad happened.

So here I am, with another bag full of books and the happy problem of deciding which one to start first. Maybe I’ll dive into Devdutt for some mythological musings or pick Judith McNaught for a comforting escape. Either way, it’s another reminder of why book hauls are the best kind of shopping.

Because really, can you ever have too many books? (Spoiler: absolutely not.)
