If there’s one thing that can lift my spirits faster than a pizza on a Sunday — it’s a fresh stack of books waiting to be devoured. So naturally, when I stepped into Blossoms Book House last weekend, I left with a little more than I had planned. Okay, a lot more. But what’s self-restraint when you’re surrounded by shelves full of stories?

This time around, I walked away with a heart (and bag) full of romantic fiction paperbacks (no surprises there), most of them thrifted, which makes the experience even better. There’s something about second-hand books — the worn corners, the soft pages, the faint perfume of nostalgia. And let’s be honest, the fact that 80% of my book collection is thrifted probably says more about me than I care to admit!
Here’s what made it to my recent book haul:

Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas
A re-read, yes. But it’s one of those books that deserves a permanent spot on the bookshelf. I read it years ago, and when I saw this paperback at Blossom’s, it was an instant yes. There’s something about Lisa Kleypas’ writing — comforting, swoon-worthy, and familiar, like curling up with your favourite blanket.
Dance Upon the Air by Nora Roberts
A Nora Roberts classic and the start of her “Three Sisters Island” trilogy. It has everything — magic, romance, and a little suspense. I’m all in.
Heaven and Earth by Nora Roberts
The second in the same trilogy. Obviously had to get it because… well, who stops at just one book in a series?
Zeke and Jared: The MacKade Brothers by Nora Roberts
Two full-length novels in one binding — a win for lazy Sunday afternoons and extended reading hours.
The MacGregors: Alan & Grant by Nora Roberts
At this point, it’s safe to say this haul could be titled “Nora Roberts and Friends.”
Come the Spring by Julie Garwood
I hadn’t read this before, but the vintage cover caught my eye. And I trust Julie Garwood to serve me historical romance with just the right amount of sass and swoon.
Even though I have a Kindle I absolutely adore, there’s an unmatchable joy in flipping through an old paperback. The kind you can highlight, dog-ear (sorry, not sorry), or toss into your bag without worrying about a screen cracking. Reading paperbacks somehow feels slower, more mindful.
Well, this is it for this book haul. Here’s to many more in future!
