Monday Moodboard – Monsoon, Chapter 1

Linen Sarees, Silver Anklets, Umbrellas & Chai

It’s that time again—when the skies turn fifty shades of grey, the breeze carries a secret, and puddles start making cameo appearances in your daily life (Monsoon ready or not, here they come). Welcome to Chapter 1 of the Monday Moodboard series—this one’s for the rain lovers, chai sippers, and accidental puddle hoppers out there.

Here’s my take on a monsoon moodboard that is as romantic as it is real (read: frizzy hair, foggy glasses, and umbrella struggles 101). But oh, how beautiful it all still is.

Linen Sarees
First things first, let’s talk linen sarees. Honestly, these beauties are a monsoon staple. Light, breathable, and quick to dry (thank you, fabric gods), they’re the perfect answer to sticky, humid days. Pick one in pastel blue or moss green and you’re instantly monsoon-chic.
Pro tip? Avoid heavy embroidery and go for soft prints. Linen moves with grace—even in gusty winds. Just maybe skip the metro stairs on extra rainy days… slippery dramas ahead.

Silver Anklets
There’s something wildly nostalgic about the soft jingle of silver anklets during the rains. It’s like your own personal soundtrack to the season. Paired with a flowing saree or even your trusty cotton culottes, anklets add a touch of tradition with just the right amount of sass (chaos but make it cute). Look for dainty ones with leaf or cloud charms—subtle, elegant, and oh-so-pretty when peeking from under a wet hem.

Umbrella
Ah, the umbrella—the unsung hero of monsoon fashion. Whether you’re a solid-black loyalist or the “clear bubble umbrella with aesthetic appeal” type, don’t underestimate the style power here. Pro tip: Match your umbrella with your saree or your mood. (Angry skies? Bring out the sunshine yellow). And yes, one-hand umbrella selfies are a thing—just don’t poke strangers while trying.

Coffee/Chai
Now let’s get to the soul of it all—coffee or chai. Rain without chai is like a saree without pleats. Whether it’s spicy masala chai in a glass tumbler or a strong filter coffee in your favourite mug, this is the comfort we all crave when the sky opens up. Make it a ritual—brew, sip, stare out the window dramatically (bonus points if you hum a romantic song while doing so). Rainy-day therapy? Sorted.

So here’s your monsoon moodboard checklist:

  • Linen Saree – check ✔️
  • Silver Anklets – jingle-ready ✔️
  • Umbrella – fighting the wind like a boss ✔️
  • Chai or Coffee – soul-hug in a cup ✔️

Whether you’re heading to work, staying in with a book, or pretending to be in a romantic movie (hey, we all do it), this moodboard wraps you up in comfort, tradition, and just the right amount of “I’ve got my life together” vibes (even when you don’t, totally fine).

Until Next Monday…
This was just Chapter 1. I’ll be back next week with another handpicked moodboard to sprinkle some aesthetic joy into your Mondays.

Tell me—what’s your monsoon essential? The jingle of anklets? That perfect umbrella? Or just the first sip of garam chai?
