February has been a record-breaking month for me—16 books in 28 days! (Who even am I?) My Goodreads challenge for 2025 is to read 40 books, and let’s just say, I might just finish it by mid-year at this rate. But as always, not every book I read makes it to my favourites list.
Since you all probably know by now that romance is my go-to genre (because love stories just hit differently), here are my top three picks from February—books I actually enjoyed and would recommend (or not).
Pamela Clare’s I-Team series is one of my all-time favourite romantic suspense series, and Unlawful Contact did not disappoint. If you love romance with a side of action, thrill, and danger, this book is IT.
The story follows Marc Hunter, an escaped prisoner, and Sophie Alton, an investigative journalist. Let’s just say the tension, the stakes, and the emotions are high. Marc is a morally gray, tortured hero, and Sophie is fierce, smart, and resilient.
I loved the fast-paced, engaging storyline (couldn’t put it down), and Marc’s character development—his loyalty, protectiveness, and redemption were 💯. The chemistry between the leads was intense, emotional, and beautifully written.
Would I recommend it? YES, especially if you love action-packed romances with deep emotional connections. Also, if you’re diving into the I-Team series, Hard Evidence is my personal favourite. It made me extra happy that Julian from Hard Evidence is seen in Unlawful contact and for a good amount of time.
Ana Huang is always a solid pick when I want angst, sizzling chemistry, and swoon-worthy moments. Twisted Lies follows Christian Harper (a billionaire with a dark side) and Stella Alonso (a social media influencer). The whole fake dating-to-real feelings trope? I am starting to have a thing for it.
I loved Christian’s possessive, broody, and protective energy, and the chemistry between the leads—slow burn, but worth it. Do give it a try especially if you love billionaire romances.
I had high expectations for this one because social media has been hyping it up like crazy, but… it didn’t quite live up to that for me. Twisted Games follows Bridget von Ascheberg, a European princess, and Rhys Larsen, her bodyguard. If you love forbidden romance, protective heroes, and a touch of royalty, this one’s for you.
I loved Rhys as a hero—tough, protective, with just the right amount of possessiveness, and some swoon-worthy moments (because Ana Huang does those well).
What I didn’t love as much was the plot dragged in the middle—felt like it could have been wrapped up quicker. Bridget’s character wasn’t as compelling as I hoped.
The book was good, but not as mind-blowing as social media made it seem.
Would I recommend it? Yes, but don’t go in expecting a life-changing romance.

If I had to pick my absolute favourite from February, it would be Unlawful Contact because it had the perfect mix of romance and suspense. But if you’re looking for a solid romance with a billionaire or bodyguard trope, Ana Huang’s books are worth the read (even if they’re a tad overhyped).
