The first month of the year always fills me with motivation, and this January was no exception. My Goodreads challenge for 2025 is to read 40 books, and I’m thrilled to share that I managed to read 10 books already! But instead of overwhelming you with reviews of all ten, I’m spotlighting the top three that I really liked. Here goes my monthly book review:

Julie Garwood’s The Lion’s Lady swept me off my feet with its unique storyline, witty dialogues, and endearing characters. This historical romance follows Christina, a woman raised in unusual circumstances, who brings her fierce spirit into the rigid world of London society. Pair that with Lyon, a brooding yet charming hero, and you get a love story that’s as heartwarming as it is entertaining.

I lovedChristina’s independence and sharp wit that makes her a memorable protagonist. The slow burn of the romance was perfectly paced and oh-so-satisfying.

If you love romance with strong female characters and a dash of intrigue, The Lion’s Lady is a must-read.

Bhavini K Desai’s The City of Pillars is a captivating tale that beautifully intertwines romance, political intrigue, and the breathtaking backdrop of Kashmir. The story follows the journey of two individuals whose lives become deeply entwined, and set against the chaos of elections and the undercurrents of conspiracy, the novel explores the delicate balance between duty and desire, loyalty and love.

I liked how theworld-building is vivid and immersive, transporting you right into the heart of the story. It’s the kind of book that demands to be read in one sitting. It’s intense, unpredictable, and utterly captivating.

If you’re in the mood for a light yet engaging romance, Nadia Lee’s Contractually Yours is the perfect pick. The story dives into the lives of two individuals brought together by circumstances beyond their control (hello, marriage of convenience trope lovers!). While the storyline is a bit predictable, it’s the emotional depth and sizzling chemistry between the protagonists that make this book a delightful read.

The dynamic between the leads is heartfelt and entertaining. And the writing is simple, making it a quick and enjoyable read. It’s perfect for those lazy afternoons when you want a good love story without too much drama.
