Diwali for us Indians is like Christmas. It’s the festival of celebrating light, joy, togetherness, and holidays for some of course. The festive spirit is high all over India and you can see lights and candles at almost every house. This year, I was a bit low on festivities due to some personal things, but I did manage to decorate the house a bit. After all, it’s Diwali!

Rangoli, as always is a must. It gives a different vibe with so many bright colours and is an effortless way to add colour and spirit to any space. I have been making Rangoli on every Diwali since my school days, it does bring back childhood memories. Tip: If you are short on time, or you do not have a creative hand, you can try using stencils for Rangoli or Rangoli ready-made kits! It is easy to use and looks excellent as well.

For lighting, I went with tea lights on a few shelves, floating candles for centrepieces, fairy lights here and there, and of course the must-have Diyas on the balcony. I used tea light holders as well to give a soft glow to the space.

Lastly, no Diwali is complete without flowers. I added fresh flower arrangements around the house – on side tables, shelves, and entryway. Flowers are such a game-changer and a must-have. We had a firecracker-free Diwali and enjoyed this festival by having a few friends over.
