Vacation Day 3

Day 3 of the vacation was all about relaxing and enjoying the surrounding islands of Kochi. After waking up late and relaxing like there was no tomorrow, my day actually began at noon.

We went to one of the beautiful places to eat lunch and soaked in the nature around us. The food, of course, was excellent. I, being a vegetation, did get ample options here. Took a little walk after lunch in the streets of Fort Kochi, did some shopping (how can I forget the famous Kerala banana chips!) and headed to catch the Ferry.

We took the Ferry from Fort Kochi to Vypin Island, which was an experience in itself. One of the highlights was the Chinese fishing nets that we could see on the way. The ride was hardly 15 minutes, with the scenic views of the Arabian Sea, and one of the experiences to remember forever.

Vypin Island was laid back, giving the typical village vibe except it was much like a town. One of the longest islands in Kerala, it is lined with coconut groves and untouched beaches, with endless stretches of sand and water. One of the beaches, Cherai Beach, goes on for miles, where we get to witness a beautiful sunset. With shacks lined up, it is a perfect spot to enjoy your evening, with the sun setting and waves lapping; the perfect way to unwind and a fantastic end to my mini vacation.

Coming back home the next day, with bags packed and hearts filled with memories, I realized how much needed this vacation was for me. An experience of peace and discovery, with backwaters, sunsets, and scenic views, Kerala touched me. Memories of a lifetime, and another tick to my checklist.
