I love to read. Give me a good book and some space, and it literally makes my day. Reading over everything.
Even though I love to read, I am not able to give it time as much as I would like to. And, yes, when it comes to novels, I am choosy. I would always prefer the genre of historical romance over everything, and I run away from science fiction.
One thing that keeps me going back to reading is paperbacks. eBooks are the last preference for me. The smell of a book is something that an eBook simply cannot replace. Those slightly yellow pages, that slightly coarse texture of the page, the story which feels so real when the book is in your hand. Paperbacks are a big part that I enjoy reading. Of course, I have read eBooks a lot as well, but somehow, it’s just not the same thing.
Here are some reasons that why I always choose a paperback over an eBook.
- The feel and experience: That feeling of holding a book makes me connect to the story on a different level. Flipping through the pages and feeling the weight of the book is a connection on a whole different level.
- No dependency: It seriously makes me mad when the battery dies while reading an eBook, and the story is left unfinished. Paperbacks do not have any dependency, and I always love to carry a book rather than a power bank.
- Aesthetic value: Having a collection of books is something entirely different rather than having a folder full of eBooks. Somehow, hard copies make it real and add value to my life.
Maybe I am an old school soul, but I appreciate the traditional feel and aesthetics of a paperback book. There’s just something magical about holding a paperback, just like a kid in a candy store, and a shopaholic in a mall. May my literary love affair continue to blossom with every turn of the page!
